What can be done about this current situation? Can a NCR system replace the Whistle Blowing Policy and make the necessary cultural adjustments in healthcare?
A NCR is a form that is completed when a process error has been made by a member of the work team. This error may not be immediately observed but may come to light further down the line. The form has a number of fields that facilitate NCR analysis and reporting. A NCR will trigger corrective and preventative action.
As the NCR System becomes mature then the number of NCRs raised reduces and the preventative actions (CI/QI) improve the process.
