Patient Safety is an are that is treated as an issue in its own right. Nevertheless that is no reason why it should not be included in a Process Management System.

The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges have produced a very good document that tell us how to do just that (see page 17).

Of course first you need to have the process map! Patient Safety applies to ALL healthcare processes.
