8. Making a start on a new Process Flow Chart.

Remember you're not changing anything you are simply documenting work-as-done (WAD) in a process flow chart illustration. Consensus from the whole team is important throughout this process.

Your starting point is your process list that has been reviewed and agreed by your work team. This list can be added to or updated at any time

As we don't have time to make a list now we can use one I created earlier.

Do you remember the workflow diagram from the GIRFT Theatre productivity guide that I showed earlier?

First step - create an initial Theatre Pathway Flow Chart.

Second step - create an Version 2 Theatre Pathway Flow Chart.

Third step - create Process Flow Charts for each individual process identifled using the basic flow chart template.

Fourth step - consider what procedures, guidance, existing SOPs are relevant to each step in the process.

Remember how you implement the requirements around staff following the formal, documented, process flow chart is down to your organisation or department but each process flow chart should be an example of 'best practice' once it has been approved.

Leading onto the start of Process Management, that could be the subject for my next webinar!
