9. Finally - producing the final Process Flow Chart documentation.

The final process documentation should ideally be designed and produced centrally for each work team or department. May be the QI Team are best suited to undertake this task. It does require some skills but they are not difficult to achieve with the right tools and some practice.

I do not recomend using a commercial package for this task for a number of reasons - the main one is that you can do a better job without the additional expense.

You have seen how I do it. I use the following tools, all available on most office PCs:

  1. Microsoft Word (including .pdf)
  2. Notepad
  3. Paint Shop Pro 7 or equivalent
  4. Microsoft Visio

A knowledge of HTML code is also required. This is to make use of the internet/intranet to display Process Flow Charts and make use of the hyperlink function to display additional information without clutering the Flow Chart illustration.

It's most important to Keep it Simple!
